Queer Podcast Community

I have got some ideas, but have no idea where to start! I'd like to be able to mix music in, talk, talk with guests and to do some mobile soundscapes. What sort of setup do I need?

What I do have is a G5 with an old iMic and QuickTime Pro and Final Cut Studio. Apple claims I can do all I want with GarageBand... but well, that seems lame. Do I need to look at Logic Express?

What sort of recommendations for microphones?

Will one of those iMic dealys on my iPod allow me to go mobile? Is that enough...?

HELP and thank you for your recommendations on what I need to get started with my own queer podcast?

I've tried using Soundtrack and Garagband and I definitely prefer Logic Express. The learning curve is a bit tough but it's well worth your time because it is an extremely reliable product. There's nothing worse that losing your recording and Logic Express is your best bet to avoid having that happen.

Being somewhat familiar with Soundtrack Pro and Garageband... is Logic all that different?

And here's another naive question: Is it enough to simply hook a mic. up through a USB interface like (Griffin's iMic) and I am good to go? Or what would you recommend for getting sound in...?

but if you like to have the best software for the job, then choose Logic. I prefer functionality and stability over simplicity. Logic also integrates with most control surfaces and interfaces. It has synthesizers. It's just wonderful... something to grow into. Try the free trial if you're not sure. There's a really good book on Logic that comes with the free demo of the software.

Well, I think you're right, Madge (of course)... I am going to invest into Logic... THANKS for the thoughts/advice.

It's very nice software and works on PC and Mac as well. Much easier to use than Logic also.
