Queer Podcast Community

UPDATE: After reading the thread of that Pubbyflusteredcunt, I have added a new field in the 'about me' section of your cuntact info. It is a check box that allows you to 'opt-out' of the nellgaturd. So if you don't want to be on the nellgaturd, just check the box.

Thanks to the very hard work of SkyPanther, you can now subscribe to all queercasts by subscribing to Nellygator - that's http://feeds.feedburner.com/nellygator

You can also see a text version of this feed by just surfing to Nellygator.com but this portion is still being altered cosmetically.

Note that the data for these feeds come directly from your 'About Me' page. If your feed doesn't show up, there's probably an error. Please be sure you have the correct feed in your About Me page and then make sure there are no errors in the feed. If everything looks fine, please run your feed through feedvalidator.org. If it's still fine, then please reply to this message and I'll take a look.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I will make the stats for this feed public so that you can all add it to your own personal stats.

i've been submitting the qpodder feeds to odeo and podnova. Podnova now lists the qpodder aggregation feed here here I don't think oedo will list it because enclosures don't automatically show up in it. Odeo is now listing twinkleboi and fatty cast as a result of their submission. The respective authors of these feeds might want to go over to odeo and claim their channel/podcast.

The optout option is now working, if you do not want to be included in the qpodder feed, go to the "about me" page, scroll all the way down and click the optout box.

Also, if you did not optout, but your feed is not showing up, this is because there was a problem with your feed and the optout option was set to on.

But since i've set up the feedburner stats as public, everyone can see the stats and add them to their own. However, it would be easy to set up the system so that anyone can opt out of nellygator. What about that?

I don't know if this is necessarily a good idea... at least if we are talking about having this feed in iTunes. The reason is that it will take away subscribers from everybody's show (feed) and that is not really something that we might want at this time. I don't have time to listen to everyone's show anyways... but I think that it is great to have one feed to see what is out there... but just not to download into iTunes. It introduces people to podcasts that they might not otherwise know about or listen to. But... as the number of queercasts increases, people might start to be overwhelmed by the amount of content. Having a seperate feed on qpodder for all the queercasts is useful and a great idea.... I am just concerned about the effect it will have on everyone's subscribers and perhaps on people as the number of queercasts increases. Share and discuss!

intersting.

I got five new subscribers yesterday (now I'm up to 20...staggering, I know) and I assumed that it was because of the new qpodder feed....was I incorrect in assuming that those subscribers would show up as subscribers to my feed by default?

Hmm... Well I assume that the qpodder feed is counted by your feed as if it were one subscriber--it constantly checks for new posts on your feed and then it adds it to the qpodder feed. If that is true, then you have five new subscribers and one is the qpodder feed... then you have four (truely) new subscribers. How would one tell the number of people that listen to your show through the qpodder feed?

Now that I think about it, the nellygator subscribers could very well be included in the source feed as well. It really depends on how feedburner computes stats. If people subscribe through bloglines to your feed it still counts as a subscriber. Maybe someone can check with feedburner.

I showed up allright, but all the photos i linked in my blog are there too. Seems like bad manners on my part, is there something I can do to prevent that?

I am working on a script that will also automate that pane.

... but I still don't show up in the right Queercasts pane... I feel... broken :(
