Just like any other issues, it is only significant when it hits home. I have seen too many couples, my own friends, or friends of friends being torn apart due to our immigration inequality. I was afraid of that for many years before I obtained my permanent residency status. It's an issue very close to my heart. I also did a couple of shows with a personal friend, talking about his visa issues. (Ongline #75 Lovers Torn Apart by Borders and Ongline #76 A Personal Story of Immigratoin INequality)

Besides talking about this issue on your show, also encourage your listeners to take action. Talk to their legistators.

We, myself included, being the non-US citizens don't have as much power as an American citizen. We need your help to make this work for us.

We can't wait for the Federal Government to recogize Gay Marriage to protect these couples. We have to do something today, while fighting for Gay Marriage. Couples of many years are being seperated because of this. Please talk about it on your shows. Share it with your friends. I know many people, gay or straight, are NOT aware of this issue we're facing in a binational relationship.
