Does anyone still use that word?

Anyways...I’m gonna do it. I'm starting a podcast.

I'm on a PC, but will be switching to a MAC in about a month or so.

I'm getting an iriver 799, and probably a giant squid omni directional stereo mic (lapel type).

Will probably use Audacity.

I was hoping i could get some feedback. Is this a good direction to start in? Any and all suggestion/comments are welcome. One last thing...is there like a microphone that looks like a cell phone Bluetooth ear piece?

Thanks!

Joe.

I've switched to mac for ease of podcasting. Had this darn thing for over 6-months now and cant get audacity to convert my podcasts to mp3. I have downloaded the LAME file and placed it in a spot where i know it will be. When i go to convert it audacity asks for the location of the file. I find it and see it but it I am not able to select it! I've placed it in other places too but still not able to select it. I tried to convert it in iTunes as a work around but that doesnt convert it to mp3 either....Can anyone help?

thanks in advance...

2nd that to Mikey...

Just do it. Besides, we here on qPodder are more than happy to help you out.

Personally, I use an iriver 895 for mobile casts and Sony Vegas 5.0 on a PC to edit with. Audacity is a good program, but Vegas will allow you to do multitracks and is SO easy to use, I didn't even need the manual. Vegas is primarily used for video, but it excellent for audio editing, especially if you are mixing multiple files together. (Vegas is a god send for music mixes, too!)

For a mic, you could just use a gaming type headset microphone that has noice cancelling. You can usually find them at your local discount store for around $15. I think Ragan Fox uses something like that and he has excellent sound quality.

Hope this helps. :)

What is the major difference between the iriver 799 vs iriver 895?

I'm having a hard time finding either of these online. All i see are refurbished stuff which makes me nervous.

Also, i was actually looking for a discreet microphone to use while on the bus and such. So i don't look so odd when i'm talking to myself.

Suggestions?

Joe.

Just start it. :-)

It's fun and exciting and I have found that i learned the most from just doing it and learning from my mistakes.
