Hi there,

I'm doing voip interviews mostly and use EasyVoipRecorder after hotrecorder crashed a few times and went out of sync on a long AND IMPORTANT!!! call.

Audacity is more than I need for editing.

EasyVoipRecorder records directly on mp3 if you don't want to mess with convertions, really worked great after so long I've been using HR.

Hope it helps you!

I use Castblaster to record, and Audacity for editing.

This is what I use:
Sony Acid Music Studio for more complex editing + mixing in pre-production. (also create music loops, mashups, etc.)
Audacity for quick edits or adjusting sound of clips (also pre-production).
Castblaster for final production of most shows.

I usually save stuff in .wav format until it goes to Castblaster. I think mp3 is the only format CB accepts?? .wav files are rejected, at least.

Castblaster is a good tool for a "live" feel. I think buying CB would be pointless if you intend to do post-production (except for rare times when you may wish to apply normalizing and compression in post production.
