Queer Podcast Community

The news this week is terrible. This past week, a 15-year old gender variant gay boy was allegedly murdered in front of horrified classmates by a 14-year old fellow student in an eighth grade classroom in Oxnard, California. We will tell you about the killing of Lawrence King, the state's intent to try his adolescent alleged killer as an adult, outpourings of grief from the student and LGBT communities, and the roots of these kinds of crimes.

Our guest in the second half of our program is out lesbian New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who holds the second most powerful office in the city. She will talk about her support for Hillary Clinton for President, her future political plans, her stands on such issues as the anti-gay St. Patrick's Day Parade, getting anti-bullying programs in the schools, the lack of good AIDS education in the schools, and the Bloomberg administration's record on civil liberties. We will offer the opportunity for an Obama surrogate to appear on a future program.

This week, Andy will review the "Macbeth" at BAM with Patrick Stewart, a play called "Grace" about atheism with Lynn Redgrave at the Lucille Lortel on Christopher Street, and one about race called "Unconditional" at the Public Theatrer.
