Victor Torres was born in Queens, NY to an Italian mother and Puerto Rican father on a cold January night. His formative years were spent on the front stoop of their apartment building re-creating sitcoms assisted by his "too lazy to learn her lines" three year-old sister.
His first sample of comedy writing was completed in the third grade. The paperback book entitled "Charlie Brown is a Clown" had six illustrated pages and told of the fateful evening when Charlie Brown fell out of a tree and "broke his butt in three pieces". He believed those words were pure comedic genius. The teacher believed it was just plain crude and gave him a C+. Fortunately, she didn't report him to the Writer's Guild for copyright infringement.
His excessive talking and sarcastic wit in elementary school forced his parents to send him to the Beacon Christian Academy. One would think that such a school would break the spirit of this boy, but not so. He continued to be the class cut-up. He was the creator and senior editor of "The Beacon Journal", the high school newspaper which gave him an outlet to develop his comedic voice. His article, "Abs Like Christ in Three Days", caused the newspaper's sudden cancellation.
Through hard work and a clerical error, Victor graduated six months early from high school. He spent a year at Messiah College in Grantham, PA., where he studied advertising and wrote bad poetry with his Goth girlfriend. After being put on academic probation for skipping Bible classes, Victor decided to leave school and make it on his own on the mean streets of Poughkeepsie, NY.
He spent a few years working through fifteen of the twenty five stores in the Poughkeepsie Galleria. It was here at "Saturday Matinee", a video/Disney memorabilia/electronics store, that Victor met John Cordaro, his future writing partner. They became fast friends and shared ideas that would become the foundation of their future writings.
John introduced Victor to the local theater circuit and before long they were both cast in "Carmen Miranda: The Musical": an awfully off-Broadway show. Much to the pleasure of the audience and to the horror of his parents, Victor performed a number imitating Ms. Miranda, fruit hat and all. His parents were kind enough to pack all of his belongings and have them sitting at the curb when he returned home later that evening.
Bags packed, Victor then moved to San Francisco. He learned computer administration/support and eventually became the IT Manager for the University of California's Women Health Clinic, allowing him valuable time to catch up on his web browsing and script writing.
Victor and John's writing collaboration, now in its twelfth year, has bore much fruit - some ripe, some slightly bruised, but all sweet and tasty. Their first co-written and co-directed short film "Natural Selection" was a huge success and was just narrowly beaten by "Titanic" at Oscar Time, San Francisco's local film and hot dog restaurant.
Victor now lives in a flat located in San Francisco's Dolores/Mission area with his life partner, Tony and their Siamese cats, Yoshi and Mushu. Victor's personal web log chronicles his daily life and childhood experiences and has had over one million visitors.
